Short note: According to the history of the province of Southern Leyte, Southern Leyte officially became a province on July 1,1960 through the house bill number 1318 (which became the Republic Act 2227) which was authored by Congressman Nicanor Y�iguez and was signed into law by President Carlos P. Garcia.

Last July 1, 2008, the province celebrated its 48th founding anniversary through several activities held like Agri Show 2008, Quiz Bee, Jetzki Tournament, Cycling competition, Cookfest, Miss Southern Leyte, Parade, etc.

Several days after the celebration of the Southern Leyte’s 48th anniversary, my wife and I visited the Southen Leyte Capitol Building which surprised as of its beauty as shown by the photo below:

Amparaiso Beach Resort

Amparaiso Beach Resort in Amparo, Macrohon, Southern Leyte is really one of the our favorite party destinations. We celebrated our Auntie Mary’s birthday last year (2007) in Amparaiso Beach Resort. We experienced few disappointments with their services and other facilities but we still love to be there just to relax, eat our favorite foods, and celebrate the important dates.

Last July 6, 2008, our family went to Amparaiso Beach Resort, bringing no food because we know that Amparaiso Beach Resort was capable of serving our needs. That day we celebrated the wedding anniversary of our Uncle Nick and Aunt Gonie. To our disappointment, the resort management told us that their cook was currently on-leave. Well, we have no other choice but to go to Kinamot Restaurant in Abgao, Maasin City.

On July 21, 2008, we again went to Amparaiso Beach Resort. That time, we were celebrating the 70th birthday of our Auntie Pening. So, to make sure that we would be served by the resort management with the foods we need, we contacted them, informed them that we would be going in to Amparaiso Beach Resort. And of course ordered the recipes we need.

Southern Leyte Photo by a Moving Camera

Last Tuesday, we (my wife and I) headed to Malitbog, Southern Leyte riding our Honda XRM motorcycle. As we reached Barangay Lungsodaan, P. Burgos, Southern Leyte, we decided to take photos we passed by. We’re using a Kodak C613 Digital Camera set to Landscape scene. Below are the photos we got.

Actually, these photos are the results of our experiment in using “Landscape Scene” in taking pictures in motion.

Malitbog of Southern Leyte

I am actually currently living with my aunts in Malitbog, Southern Leyte.

According to the script inscribed on the stone walls of the ruins of the two watchtowers called �Baluarte� located 1 kilometer equidistant from the Roman Catholic church. One of the watchtowers is located in Barangay Caaga and the pther one in Barangay Abgao. However, the town of Malitbog was reorganized under the provisions of the Maura Law of 1893. During the American Regime, it was again reorganized under the provisions of Act. No. 82 passed by the Philippine Commission in 1900.
